A cross-country ski “marathon” takes place in Oneida County each winter. The Minocqua Winter Park’s signature event is the Wolf Tracks Rendezvous, which includes 42 kilometer and 24 kilometer cross-country ski races.
The longer race covers some of the park’s best and most challenging trails; the shorter event avoids some of the more difficult trail sections.
The events are chip-timed, feature seeded wave starts and offer awards for top overall and division winners. The marathon is a qualifier for the American Birkebeiner and the 24 kilometer event is a qualifier for the Kortelopet. The course features six on-course aid stations and there’s ski patrol coverage.
Minocqua Winter Park is a popular location for a variety of winter activities. During race weekend, family members of racers may purchase daily passes for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snow tubing and ice skating.
Minocqua Winter Park is located at 7543 Squirrel Hill Road, about 15 minutes from downtown Minocqua via US 51 and Wisc. Hwy 70 West.
