The Pelican Lake Area offers some of Wisconsin’s finest fishing and boating lakes, including Pelican Lake. At 3,585 acres and a maximum depth of 39 feet, Pelican Lake is one of the largest in the county. The large weedbeds of Pelican Lake are famous for holding trophy-size northern pike and musky. The lake is also well known for its walleye fishing. During the fall, the musky fishing on this lake is phenomenal.
Other area lakes include Enterprise Lake, Otter Lake, Summit Lake, Moccasin Lake, Greater Bass Lake and Upper and Lower Post lakes. Anglers will find excellent fishing for walleye, largemouth and smallmouth bass, panfish, northern pike and musky on these lakes. The Wolf River is also located within a short drive of Pelican Lake.
The Great Wisconsin Divide runs through the area, separating lakes that drain to the Great Lakes from lakes that drain to the Wisconsin River and the Mississippi River.
Public swimming beaches are available on Monico and Summit lakes. These beaches are open Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Be sure to visit the Mecikalski Stovewood Building and Museum, a unique piece of architecture that houses a number of fascinating exhibits. It is open from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend, Saturdays & Sundays, 1-4pm. The building has been named a National Historic Site and was constructed using the stovewood building method, which involves stacking short pieces of wood and cementing them with mortar. The site includes several other historic buildings.
Several entertainment options are available in the Pelican Lake Area. Mole Lake Casino is located within a short drive of Pelican Lake, as is the Antigo Bass Lake Golf Club.
Visitors can choose from seven different restaurants, ranging from friendly taverns serving burgers to restaurants specializing in juicy steaks. Lodging in the Pelican Lake Area includes resorts, campgrounds, cottages and cabins.
