Wintertime brings excellent ice fishing to Oneida County. Oneida County is a popular destination for ice fishing, particularly for northern pike, walleye, bluegill and crappie. Some of the largest northern pike and walleye of the year are taken through Oneida County ice.

During the winter, anglers have their choice of hundreds of Oneida County lakes. Boom Lake in Rhinelander has hosted North American Ice Fishing Circuit tournaments. With numerous boat launches located throughout the county, accessing prime ice-fishing waters is easy.
