Drive your boat to these lakeside restaurants

You’ve heard about curbside service, but how about lakeside service? Oneida County is home to tons of great restaurants that are right on the water, including several with parking for your boat. So hop on board and take a ride to check out these lakeside eateries.

Backwaters Bar & Grill, Rhinelander

This scenic spot on the Boom Lake chain north of Rhinelander is a popular spot for boaters, offering docks along the Wisconsin River and plenty of outdoor seating. If you’re following the Wisconsin River north from Boom Lake in downtown Rhinelander, you’ll find Backwaters a few miles north of town. Try their signature broasted chicken (a carry-out favorite and dine-in special on Wednesdays) as well as incredible ribs, great fish fry and awesome burgers. Online ordering is available.

Tilted Loon Saloon, Tomahawk

Pull up to the shore at this lakeside eatery on Lake Nokomis that’s open for lunch and dinner—and you can even refill your boat’s gas tank while you’re there. The Tilted Loon offers traditional American fare and Northwoods favorites, including burgers, homemade pizzas, wraps, and salads, as well as a Friday fish fry and chicken and/or rib dinners on Saturdays.

The Thirsty Whale, Minocqua

This Northwoods institution offers boat parking all around its outdoor deck, so customers can sit outside and take in the views of Lake Minocqua while enjoying a tasty meal. This family-friendly restaurant is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week during the summer season, and visitors have long enjoyed the restaurant’s wild rice clam chowder, Friday fish fry, cheese curds and burgers.
