Take in the fresh air at these summer festivals

There’s something happening every weekend this summer in Oneida County, including music festivals, classic car shows, craft fairs and more. See what’s on the calendar and make plans to join the fun. Here are four upcoming events you won’t want to miss.

Snowshoe baseball games

Snowshoe baseball? In the summer? Yep. In 1961, the town chairman of Lake Tomahawk came up with this event as a way to give summer tourists and residents another source of entertainment. The idea took off and people have been swinging, stumbling and laughing ever since. The games take place on summer evenings at 7:30pm in Lake Tomahawk’s Snowshoe Park. There’s no admission, but you’re welcome to throw a few dollars into the butterfly net that’s passed around during the game or just sit back, relax and enjoy the game.

Nicolet Wheel-a-Way

Each September, cruise down the beautiful roads of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest and join the Nicolet Wheel-A-Way, a late summer tradition in Three Lakes. This fun bicycle ride is not a race, but rather a scenic tour along an 18-mile or 36-mile route. There will be a support wagon to accommodate riders’ needs and plenty of refreshments at stops along the way.

Where’s the beef? In Minocqua of course, during the last weekend of September. This fun-filled festival celebrates everything beef and includes the Rump Roast Run and a Parade of Beef. There’s also a special “Calf Mile” for kids. Beef-A-Rama™ features cook-offs, games for all ages, great food and live music that will get you moo-ving.
