Lake Tomahawk

Be sure to bring your appetite when you head to Lake Tomahawk, located along Highway 47 between Minocqua and Rhinelander in north-central Oneida County. Lizzy T’s Tamarack Tap offers daily specials like chicken and BBQ ribs on Thursdays, a Friday fish fry, and prime rib on Saturday, as well as hearty entrees like creamy alfredo pasta, honey-glazed salmon and jumbo shrimp.

Minocqua Area

Northern Wisconsin is supper club country, and Minocqua and its surrounding communities of Woodruff, Arbor Vitae, and Hazelhurst in northern Oneida County are a great place to find excellent examples of this quintessentially Wisconsin type of restaurant. Norwood Pines Supper Club in Minocqua offers not only excellent views of Patricia Lake but also stick-to-your-ribs cuisine like seafood-stuffed salmon, ribs, and a tenderloin filet stuffed with portabella mushrooms and garlic.

At Northfork Fin & Filet in Arbor Vitae, you’ll find delicious dishes like tenderloin shepherd’s pie and smoked gouda seafood alfredo to keep you warm throughout the winter months.

Rhinelander

Rhinelander, located in central Oneida County, is home to dozens of restaurants where visitors can find everything from homemade bakery items to dishes from around the world. Those looking for a comforting meal on a Northwoods winter night are in luck, too—Big Daddy’s in downtown Rhinelander is a great spot for burgers, pizza, and beer. (Be sure to try one of their specialty burgers like the Wisconsin Cliché Burger, which comes topped with a Trig’s brat patty, bacon, cheese curds, American cheese, and beer cheese sauce.)

Fireside Supper Club, which can be found northeast of downtown Rhinelander on Highway K, offers a classic Northwoods supper club experience on the shores of Townline Lake. The menu features supper club staples as well as meals fit for sharing like cheese-stuffed shrimp and bacon-wrapped grilled chicken.

Three Lakes

Head to Three Lakes in northeastern Oneida County, and you’ll find great trails and lakes to explore, including the Three Lakes Chain of Lakes (which connects to the Eagle River Chain to the north) and the Three Eagle Trail (which also connects to Eagle River to the north). It’s also home to great places for a filling meal. Start your day off right at Sunset Grill, which is located on the south shore of Big Stone Lake and offers delicious breakfasts and lunches all year long. The breakfast menu features favorites like steak & eggs, biscuits & gravy, and breakfast sandwiches, and diners can find a wide array of sandwiches, wraps, and burgers on the lunch menu.
