Cool down on the water this summer

Summer is beautiful in Oneida County, and there are plenty of warm, relaxing days ahead. Here are a few ways to cool off while you’re visiting the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

Water trails

There’s nothing like paddling down a Northwoods river under a canopy of leaves. Oneida County is home to numerous padding routes—check out the Tomahawk River, the Wisconsin River and the Willow Flowage. Boating

Oneida County is home to some of the most beautiful lakes in Wisconsin’s Northwoods. There are endless miles of shoreline to explore, and when things heat up, there’s nothing more refreshing than a dip in a cool Oneida County lake.  The county has many great lakes for boating—a few examples include Lake Thompson, the Rainbow Flowage and Lake Tomahawk. Don’t have a boat? No problem—many lodging properties offer rentals.

Beaches

Oneida County has a lot of gorgeous beaches that are perfect places to spend a summer day. Oneida County’s lakes are clear and calm and many have beautiful stretches of soft sand that are perfect for family fun. In downtown Minocqua, Torpy Park is a popular spot; other beaches to check out include Hodag Park in Rhinelander, Lake Katherine in Hazelhurst and Maple Lake in the Three Lakes area.
